The Field Report: "He Could Be An Iowan"

“He could be an Iowan,” was the comment that embodied Senator Dodd’s last trip to the Hawkeye State. Dave Ehret, from Burlington, was absolutely right, and all across southeast Iowa people who attended our events made the same observation. Dodd’s genuine personality, quick wit and humble attitude leave many Iowans shocked when they learn he is actually from the East Coast. As it was my first trip with the senator since I was hired, I was equally impressed. I would learn by the end of the trip that there is much to admire about Senator Dodd and much for Iowans to learn.

The Field Report: Special Pre-Debate Edition

The first Presidential Primary Debate and South Carolina's Democratic Weekend 2007 are finally here and last minute preparations are being made for a successful trip. Senator Chris Dodd and his wife, Jackie Clegg Dodd, along with a big group of supporters and staff, are headed down for two days of campaigning. While the debate is getting the majority of the media attention, the other big get-togethers this weekend are annual events that thousands of SC Democrats look forward to every year. Here is a quick rundown of what's on tap for the weekend:

Sunday night, a small group from the Dodd campaign convened at a friend’s apartment to watch the last game of this Red Sox-Yankees series. It was about as good as a game early in the season can get, featuring lead changes, a lot of scoring and some great defensive plays. And as the Red Sox set a franchise record by belting their fourth consecutive home run, the Dodd staff was just trying relax after four jam-packed days of campaigning with Senator Dodd.
