Two Days to Go

With just two days to go before the big Las Vegas Debate on CNN, our folks in Nevada are ready for the Senator to make his mark on the Silver State. The Dodd Campaign's Nevada State Chair State Senator John Lee had this to say today about Thursday’s debate:

“Chris Dodd has a long history of achieving results and bringing people together, and I have no doubt that it will shine through at Thursday’s debate.”

“His lifetime of service makes me proud to be the Statewide Chair of his campaign. From his fight to restore our moral authority around the world, combating global warming, his proposal for universal health care, and his bold plans for bringing our troops home from Iraq, Chris Dodd is the right Democratic candidate for Nevada and he is the right candidate for America.”

Please look for Senator Chris Dodd this Thursday on UNLV’s campus for the debate and then later that evening at the Clark County Jefferson-Jackson Dinner where Dodd supporters from across Nevada will be gathering to support our candidate and the next President of the United States. It is going to be a great day.

UNLV Debate in Sight

All of us here in Nevada are busy getting ready for Thursday’s debate, but I wanted to take a minute to let you all know how excited we are that Senator Dodd will be joining us in Las Vegas to talk about his long record of bold leadership and proven results. The Nevada Steering Committee has been meeting and planning for this event for weeks.

The debate is going to be a great opportunity for the Democratic voters of Nevada to hear what Chris Dodd is all about, from his groundbreaking energy proposals, to his tireless work to end the war in Iraq, his plan for universal healthcare and his fight to stop the FISA bill that would give immunity to telecom companies that have violated the privacy of American citizens.

As usual, the Dodd Squad will be bringing you full debate coverage, including the Talk Clock and a live stream from the Dodd campaign headquarters. Keep checking back for more updates as we gear up for Thursday. And look for us at the Clark County Jefferson-Jackson Dinner that night as well.

Debate Coming Up!

Professional Fire Fighters of Nevada endorse Chris Dodd

Chris Dodd today received the endorsement of the Nevada Professional Fire Fighters at rallies in Reno and Las Vegas. Following his endorsement at a meeting of IAFF leadership in Washington, DC, earlier this week, Dodd and IAFF President Harold Schaitberger have been on a multistate tour of early Caucus and Primary states.

President Schaitberger reiterated his support for Senator Dodd in Nevada, citing his proven leadership and bold vision for the future.

"There are many capable candidates this year, some of whom may have more celebrity, but for fire fighters it came down to the more substantive question of who we trust to keep America safe when the unexpected occurs and who we trust to fight for our families," said Schaitberger. "Chris Dodd offers proven leadership in protecting our homeland and in fighting for issues that matter to America's middle class.

"After six years of failed leadership, having experienced, bold leadership in the White House matters."

"As we mark the anniversaries of Hurricane Katrina and the horrifying attacks of September 11th, we are reminded that the nation must always be ready," said Dodd. "I am honored that America's fire fighters have put their trust in my leadership to keep America at the ready and to keep their families secure."

The IAFF is credited by many with helping John Kerry win the 2004 Iowa caucuses, and eventually the Democratic nomination. Iowa political columnist David Yepsen highlighted the crucial role that fire fighters play in a caucus like Nevada's:

In a precinct caucus fight, support from a local fire fighter can prove pivotal. The neighborhood fire fighter is usually a respected person who is trained to act quickly in a crisis. In the hectic commotion of a Democratic caucus, having that leadership take charge and rally your people can attract others to your preference group. Just ask Kerry.
