What They're Saying, February 23rd

We're pretty busy today, so I offer the abbreviated version of what the blogosphere and MSM communities are saying about Senator Chris Dodd. Dodd is still getting good reviews of his performance in Wednesday's AFSCME forum in Carson City. Scarce has video of Dodd's performance. The My Left Nutmeg contributor concludes: "Overall, he did quite well I thought." The AP wrote up a quick piece about Dodd meeting with "a crowd of fans" at the State Capitol before the forum. KREN TV's (Reno) political analyst said Dodd came out on top, while a poll at Dullard Mush has Dodd leading -- and I only voted once! Don't hesitate to cast your ballot for Senator Dodd. In Iowa, Senator Dodd has secured the services of Marc Beltrame, a long-time aide to Congressman Leonard Boswell. Iowa Progress calls the get a "major" hire, and says Dodd is "off to a solid start." More support for Senator Dodd's Restoring the Constitution Act over at Never In Our Names. UPDATE: Washington Post's Chris Cillizza has bumped Senator Dodd up in his weekly rankings of presidential candidates. From Cillizza's summary: "Dodd has quickly brought on an impressive team of advisers and focused on the one thing that can vault him into serious contention -- money." More: "A strong first fundraising quarter will force his rivals to take Dodd more seriously. His road to the nomination is still a winding one -- continue to raise money and build organizations in early states and hope one of the big three falter sometimes this fall -- but at least he has a road."

Is it too early to talk about a running mate? Good luck Chris!

I just wanted to note and congratulate Senator Dodd on his performance. I personally believed that he put forth the best presentation(if that's the word) on Wednesday. I am a young college republican(please forgive me) and have as of late decided that I wanted to learn more about the 2008's Democratic candidates. This has resulted in watching my fair share of CSPAN and checking out websites, blogs etc. I have been quite surprised to find a breath of fresh air with Senator Dodd. His plain spoken style, well thought out policies and concentration on issues (rather than bashing the administration) have sat very well with this young conservative. Most of all what I appreciate about the Senator is his truthfulness, it is very easy to play to the crowds for the issue of the moment yet I found that within his polices Dodd has his feet well grounded on reality and not just on popular opinion. Although I do disagree with the Senator on some social issues, I would be hard pressed not to cast my vote in support of the Senator if he makes it to the ballot in 2008. Lets hope he does.

I have said all along that when the debates start there will be one person who rises to the top. That person is our next Commander and Chief --- Senator Chris Dodd! Ohio is ready for you sir, we have a growing grassroots network and we cant wait until your first visit.

I have thought for a long time that Chris Dodd would make an excellent President so I was pleased to learn that he was considering running. I believe he has the leadership & vision to be one of our greatest Presidents. From my perspective he's the best candidate for President since Paul Simon (the bow tied senator from Illinois) in 1988. Very electable. In 2000, I was the representative for Bill Bradley at the Fargo, North Dakota Caucus where I delivered the speech on his behalf. In 2004, I was the North Dakota State Coordinator for Dennis Kucinich.
