DODD FAMILY SPENDS THANKSGIVING IN IOWA

Release text:

Friends, Family, and Service in Des Moines, Hiawatha, and Monticello

After a weekend of Dodd campaign barnstorming across Iowa, including 20 house parties all over the state, Presidential candidate Chris Dodd announced today that he and his family will spend the Thanksgiving holiday in the state as well. Dodd, his wife Jackie, and their daughters Grace and Christina, will participate in holiday service activities in Des Moines and Hiawatha. They will then spend Thanksgiving Day in Monticello at the home of Paul and Kim Specht.

More than 100 family members are expected to gather in the Spechts’ barn for a true Hawkeye Thanksgiving, including Karen Thalacker, a prominent Democratic activist and Dodd’s Bremer County chair, who extended the invitation to the Dodd family. The day’s activities will include touch football, plenty of Thanksgiving food favorites, and spending time with family, friends, and supporters.

The day before Thanksgiving, Senator Dodd and his family will help distribute boxed lunches and other food at the Iowa Youth & Shelter Services Homeless Youth Center in Des Moines. Senator Dodd will then travel to Hiawatha, just outside Cedar Rapids, to join volunteers in packing food boxes for families in need at the Hawkeye Area Community Action Project. Senator Dodd will also visit the Salvation Army in Iowa City, where he will join volunteers in serving the afternoon meal.

All activities are open to the press.
