politico.com has an interactive map that automatically updates. it seems like Chris is not doing well. What's his next step in this case, failing a last-minute turnaround?

Robert January 3, 2008 - 8:30pm

To Chris Dodd and his entire team,

Thank you for working so tirelessly for the American cause. Your Iowa campaign was uplifting and inspiring. Your's was the best of the best. Hope everyone gets some rest and vitamin C.

To bad about that camera Matt.

Sincerely,
Robert

CW January 3, 2008 - 10:48pm

I'm sorry to see Senator Dodd drop out of the race. Not having a voice in the election is frustrating for many of us who live outside of Iowa. Thank you to Sen. Dodd and his entire staff for running a positive, intelligent and hopeful campaign.

Eric January 3, 2008 - 8:39pm

Well, he got at least one delegate.

Mike January 3, 2008 - 8:46pm

I just attended the caucus and was disappointed. There were a total of four Dodd supporters. The precinct captain for Dodd baled out for another candidate before the first count was even complete. I could tell she wasn't that dedicated as she only had a small ripped white sticker with "Chris Dodd" written on it in pencil. No firefighters present either. It's a shame he did not get more support for all the hard work he has done here campaigning in Iowa.

Robert January 3, 2008 - 9:00pm

It was discouraging to watch c-span and see the Dodd supports peal off one after another because the group was not 'viable'. I would not mind so much if they decided to go with a second choice and sided with someone else for a reason but their choice seemed to be so arbitrary. Americans would do well to pay more attention to politics and issues than just the night of the caucus. It must be difficult to be a candidate when people just aren't paying attention. I hope we are getting better as a country than we have been, I think we are.

As a side note, c-span is pretty interesting right now.

shari January 3, 2008 - 10:44pm

we needed 33 for viability and had only 2. At least I got to give my impassioned speech (timed at 60 seconds, and received more applause than anyone else). Tough race, too bad more people didn't look for proven performance rather than glitz.

Robert January 3, 2008 - 8:49pm

I have been watching c-span since 7. The way the Iowa caucus system works it hard, near impossible, to survive Iowa without a very strong showing. That said I must say I am very pleased with the results, except for the fact that Dodd did not get every single delegate. Chris Dodd is the best candidate for the job.

chris January 3, 2008 - 9:19pm

Its really too bad Chris was surrounded by so many "stars" this election season and his message did not get picked up by the media. He is very sharp, straight forward and would have restored our image throughout the world. I believe he was the best candidate. VP anyone?

Sandra January 3, 2008 - 9:40pm

This year I am paying close attention to politics as Dodd is the only politician that has ever really 'spoken to me'- He is known for his gift of intelligence and communication, I find him in comforting spirit, I say this as a teacher myself, he speaks to those that never payed attention. I hope the Democratic National Committee considers him our President already because he has the presence and is most qualified. Now its a test of stamina and he better have it because I believe in him!

Anonymous January 3, 2008 - 9:44pm

I was there for Dodd tonight, but us Dodders had to re-join someone else. But I proudly supported Dodd to the extent I could.

Thank You Dodd.

peter January 3, 2008 - 9:58pm

my wife and i are transplanted 20 year connecticut residents to Iowa and we supported chris dodd. out of 440 people in our caucus, 6 committed folks lined up for dodd. surpringly, no person from the fire department after all the support chris has given to them. it was a shame, but we supported chris to the end. while dodd has compelling positions, (several of which were copied by "marquee" candidates) and a balanced, studied reaction to the bhutto assassination and other foreign policy issues, the media ignored him (even the des moines register) and without media attention, it is nearly impossible to get traction. we are grateful to chris and his family for their commitment to iowa (moving here months ago) and working to connect with us, one by one. thanks for your commitment.

Sar January 3, 2008 - 9:45pm

I second the VP comment!! If he can't be our President, it would be great for him to be there somehow!!

great job January 3, 2008 - 9:47pm

Great job Matt, Tim T., and Tim Cullen. Sorry to here of Dodd's exit from race. Here's an idea: ask netroots who Senator Dodd should endorse.

Jerry January 3, 2008 - 9:48pm

So sorry to hear that Sen Dodd is dropping from the race. He is a good man.

rene January 3, 2008 - 9:49pm

None of the top three candidates have Chris Dodd's experience, command of the issues or courage. This country is in crisis. We need a serious leader, a man who has the knowledge and experience to lead and stands for something. We need Chis Dodd.

No one wants to sling any mud, so no one is stating the obvious about Obama, Clinton and Edwards. You can bet the GOP will be delighted to have any of these front runners to hammer down in the general election. They are all inferior candidates to every single so called second tier candidate. If any of these three get the nomination it will be a sad day for Democrats and the country.

Many are favoring Obama simply because he is African-American and they want to see if an African-American can win the presidency. Skin color should never be a deciding factor. He is a junior Senator with little experience who can eloquently deliver a mainly empty speech.

Many people are favoring Clinton primarily because she is female and they want to see a female in the Oval office. Unfortunately, this woman compromises with Republicans before she even begins when it comes to the issues. Clinton has very little political experience, if you eliminate pillow talk with her husband. Further, she is not a viable candidate in the general election because she is too polarizing. People seem to either love her or hate her. Far too many people will never give her their vote, no matter who runs against her.

Edwards has very little experience in politics. What he has is name recognition. He is running on the idea that the poor are being victimized -- a platform tailored to point out his experience helping the underdog in lawsuits. While that's a terrific thing, there is nothing in his background or in his message that boosts confidence in anyone about his ability to handle domestic economic problems, let alone foreign policy issues.

I'm urging my fellow Democrats to look beyond name recognition, celebrity and faux news coverage. Pick a candidate who reflects your values and will fight the good fight. Pick a candidate with the ability to save us from Bush's drift into totalitarianism. Pick a nominee committed to restoring our rights and liberties. Pick the candidate who understands diplomacy and foriegn policy issues as well as domestic economic issues and who will get something done. Pick someone who has a chance to win the general election against Republican candidates who plan to follow in Bush's foot steps.

Jerry January 3, 2008 - 9:53pm

Sen. Dodd should replace Reid as the Senate Majority Leader!!!

Robert January 3, 2008 - 9:56pm

Now that sounds like a great idea.

Jerry January 3, 2008 - 9:59pm

Would he be interested you think?

Robert January 3, 2008 - 10:08pm

I have no idea. I believe there is a process for majority leader and I don't know if majority leader can be changed at any time. If so this would be a good time and Dodd would be a good person.

David January 3, 2008 - 10:22pm

Yes, Dodd would be a fantastic replacement for Reid. Get somebody in there that has the intelligence, will, convictions and the back-bone to stand up for the American people. Dodd would be a great choice.

Dara January 3, 2008 - 10:39pm

I'm for it! Dodd for Senate Majority Leader!

Jerry January 4, 2008 - 12:53pm

If you want to start a "Dodd for Senate Leader" Group you can signup at http://www.democraticwarrior.com/forum/index.php - which I am shameless to plug - and get the ball rolling. I'll re-open the Cheis Dodd Subforum and re-name it to "Chris Dood for Majprity Leader". We could at least make an impact!

Gretchen January 6, 2008 - 2:07am

Hear Hear!

David January 3, 2008 - 9:54pm

Unfortunately in my precinct there just weren't enough of us there to keep Senator Dodd viable. A merger of Richardson, Biden and Dodd supporters wasn't happening either because we couldn't agree on which of the three to support. So we all had to peel off and go our separate ways, mostly to John Edwards group. I at least have the solace to know that Chris Dodd will still be there for all of us in the U.S. Senate. Keep on fighting the good fight Senator Dodd!
VOTE DEMOCRAT

Jim White January 3, 2008 - 9:56pm

Senator Dodd,

Thank you for carrying on a first-rate campaign based on issues and on the principles on which our nation stands. I wish you the very best as you continue your service to our nation.
I look forward to the upcoming renewal of the battle on retroactive immunity in the FISA bill. I know that your character dictates that your fight for what is right on this issue will be unchanged by your status in the Presidential race. Will it be possible for you to keep your website and wonderful phone-dialer tool working as long as FISA is being debated? It would be a great service to our country.

Katie in Texas January 3, 2008 - 9:56pm

Chris,

Thanks so much for your dedication to the Democratic Party and to the country. I have so much respect for you and for your leadership & accomplishments & look forward to seeing the results of your future leadership.

God bless & best wishes from a Texas Democrat,
Katie

Jackson January 3, 2008 - 9:59pm

Dodd lost and will drop out, what do we do now?

john

Jerry January 3, 2008 - 10:03pm

Maybe he can be Senate Majority Leader? Get Reid out!!

george smith January 3, 2008 - 10:02pm

sorry to hear the results from iowa. i would like to thank the senator for his efforts . his defense of the constitution and rule of law. no man is a loser, who fights the good fight. thank you senator dodd.

Shari in PA January 3, 2008 - 10:05pm

I'm a Biden supporter in PA and just heard about Sen. Dodd dropping out of the race. I'm heart sick over the news. Biden and Dodd are the voices of reason in this crazy upside down election season where the so called "second tier" is really the "top tier" in my opinion (and the opinion of many others). I wish Sen. Dodd all the best and will miss his integrity and intelligence during the primary season.

Sean January 3, 2008 - 10:08pm

Dodd,
You're an honorable man. Keep fighting for what's in your heart.

~Sean

Chris January 3, 2008 - 10:08pm

Thanks for running a class campaign, Chris! No one can doubt your commitment and hard work you put in to this.

El Cid January 3, 2008 - 10:11pm

Thank you for helping change America for the better during your campaign. I hope the other candidates not only were impressed by, but actually may copy your bravery and commitment in standing up to both the opposition and party habits in opposing telecom immunity, etc.

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease at least consider throwing your hat into the ring for Senate leadership, that is, maybe after you've had a chance for rest.

Jody in Annapolis, MD January 3, 2008 - 10:16pm

Ya'll worked real hard. Be proud.

Christine January 3, 2008 - 10:19pm

Dear Senator Dodd,

I guess that it is expected that when you spend your time on the floor of the Senate defending our Constitution instead of reciting the same campaign speech over and over the media machine will discount your "electability". Please continue the good fight in protecting the rights of the people and the rule of law in our country. You deserve to be rewarded with the position of Majority Leader for your efforts. Best wishes!

Anonymousestelle January 3, 2008 - 10:21pm

i am truly sorry thay chris dodd did not get the respected votes he deserves. thank g-d he is representing us in the senate. the world is a scary place i wish he would be able to lead us. thank youd

ww January 3, 2008 - 10:23pm

sigh. I'm am very sorry that I will never get a chance to vote for the honorable Senator Dodd. There is truly something wrong when such a demonstrably fine American leader can't attract the votes he so clearly deserves.

True, its a fine field, but the good Senator has proven himself even before some of the others left college. Lately, the Senator has stood head and shoulders above them all in standing up to protect the Constitution when others would not.

You have my deepest respect, Senator. My sincere hope is that you will yet find a place in the next administration. We need you there, now more than ever.

Charley January 3, 2008 - 10:25pm

Chris Dodd is a class act and it's unfortunate that he won't be continuing on....Senator Dodd and Senator Biden, have the courage to support a true agent of change, not the Washington establishment.....

chris January 3, 2008 - 10:28pm

I supported Edwards, but I also have a lot of respect for Chris. He has been standing up for the Constitution and the citizens of this Country. Three cheers to a great man who ran an honest and sincere campaign.

Will January 3, 2008 - 10:28pm

Keep fighting Senator Dodd! I know that you know that there were many who stood with you tonight who nevertheless had to choose someone else.

It was nice to meet some fellow Dodd supporters tonight, and I thank you for elevating the discourse of this fall season.

My Diary on Kos

This is a sad night.

Robert January 3, 2008 - 10:47pm

Dodd is not able to continue the race and that is most unfortunate but watching the Edwards and Obama speeches I do not think that it was a sad night. Dodd offered his all for this country and the country did not take him up on the offer but I think America will be able to find a leader for ourselves and for our children. Maybe this is best for Dodd. He does have a wonderful family that he will now get to spend more time with, he will be there for us on the senate floor, and he will be there for us when we need to see a great person who once offered everything he had for his country. We can continue to support Chris Dodd as he continues to support us.

Anonymous January 3, 2008 - 10:36pm

I am a republican and Chris is the only democrat that I would have voted for. This is a sad night! Chris, please don't stop fighting for rational approaches to America's problems.

Kee January 3, 2008 - 10:40pm

I am so sad. He is a man of such integrity and intelligence and our country desperately needs him. Please go for Majority Leader, Senator. I'll still be supporting you in any endeavor you undertake.

Dave in AZ January 3, 2008 - 10:43pm

Thanks Senator Dodd for your efforts in the campaign and your service to this country. Please keep up the good work in the Senate in the fight to maintain our constitution. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to vote for you here in AZ next month. The very best to you and your family.

rene January 3, 2008 - 10:44pm

Dear Senator Dodd, Thank you! I'm deeply saddened I won't be able to call you Mr. President. You are my hero. I wish you all the best. Please keep up the good fight in Washington. We need you!

Shari in PA January 3, 2008 - 10:45pm

Sen. Biden has also dropped out of the race.

Anonymous January 3, 2008 - 10:47pm

Senator Dodd,

Thank you. Your fight for constitutional principles is greatly appreciated. You may not be in the Presidential race anymore but I think you've gained a new clout in the Senate - and I hope you put it to good use.

I know I speak for many people when I say that I sincerely hope Dems are able to gain seats in the Senate and that Majority Leader Dodd will lead those Dems in 2009. Reid isn't fighting for us, but you've shown that you will.

Karen January 3, 2008 - 10:55pm

I discovered Chris Todd too late, and I am very sorry if he does not become our next President. I am certain good things are coming his way because he was by far the best man for that job.

Alan - Heartbroken Republican January 3, 2008 - 10:56pm

I'm a heartbroken Republican who supported Sen. Dodd and I'm totally bummed at the news I heard tonight.

I can't believe Sen. Dodd is not going forward.

Sen. Dodd was the most principled, reasoned and experienced candidate on the Democrat side.

I'm still fed up and disgusted at my pro war, pro reckless lending, high gas price Republican party and will refuse to vote for anyone from my party in the general election.

I don't know what I'm going to do now.

I feel lost.

Maybe some third party candidate, who knows.

I have no idea.

Thank You Sen. Dodd for being such a class act.

Alan

Robert January 3, 2008 - 11:06pm

c-span will have tonight's speeches of the candidates if you are interested. You might find someone you like please post back here if you do. I would be interested.

Alex January 3, 2008 - 10:58pm

Thank you Senator Dodd for standing up for our constitution.

Thanks for running a good and honorable campaign. At a time when too many Democrats were content to be bullied by the Bush Administration and the Republicans, it was refreshing and inspiring to see you stand up for what is right even if you had to stand alone.

I'm sorry the Iowa results went against you, but I know you will continue to fight for what we all believe in... and I know you'll continue to make a difference and help us take our country back.

As others have said, we need you to keep fighting the good fight... even if you do so in the Senate instead of in the White House.

IowaLiberal January 3, 2008 - 11:00pm

We had 24 but needed 114 to be viable - most of us went to Clinton as our second choice. I was disappointed in the showing for Dodd, I don't think any of the other candidates are fighting for the integrity of the constitution the way Senator Dodd has - however, I have to say I now have a much better understanding and respect for Senator Dodd, and those issues that Dodd has worked so hard to bring to the forefront of Americans minds is in the front of this American's mind that otherwise would not be. You are true leader and fighter and you will get my support every time you run for senate - YOU SHOULD BE SENATE MAJORITY LEADER- we gotta get that wimpy Harry Reid out of there!! Thanks for all your hard work Senator Dodd, I think the media is responsible - they picked the candidates long ago and didn't give you a chance, despite you winning the debates and your message that I know if more Iowans would have heard would have supported you.

Leland in NC January 3, 2008 - 11:02pm

Senator Dodd,

Although you have withdrawn from the race, you have inspired a die hard Obama fan. Upon hearing of your decision to fly to Washington to filibuster a bill instead of campaigning in Iowa, I knew you were a great Senator, Democrat and American. Help end the complacency of our Democratic Congress, and help lead our Democratic government in 2009. You stand for all that is right in this country, and it is refreshing to be reminded that we still have politicians that are selfless and principled. Keep fighting the good fight sir.

ikl January 3, 2008 - 11:12pm

Thank you Senator Dodd!

I'm proud to have you as my senior Senator. Please stay in the Senate and keep fighting the good fight there. You are important to our country!

Sincerely,
Ira Lidnsay
New Haven, CT

Pentimenti January 3, 2008 - 11:14pm

Senator Dodd, you are still a national leader at a time when we sorely need one.

Sara-Iowa January 3, 2008 - 11:18pm

Thank you for your hard work! You are a great Senator! Thank you for standing up for our Constitution. You are a Great man. God Bless you and your family.

Samuel January 3, 2008 - 11:22pm

Senator Dodd,

Chin up. Your defectors/non-supporters do not know what they are missing. I appreciate your pragmatism, your intelligence, and perseverance in a race where the media, although it is its right to do so, really stacked the odds against you before they even knew your views. I supported you from the get-go.
Hey, if a republican wins, at least you can say "told 'ya so" when we really need your skill to get this country on track and united under progressive and logical values.
I urge you to stay in your seat in the senate. We cannot risk losing it to a republican I think...we only do have a one seat majority.

Thank you

-Sam

Dutchter January 3, 2008 - 11:22pm

Senator, you've been one of the only true voices of reason in this Senate and would've made an honorable President!

As you are stepping aside, I hope that your fans will join me in voting for the only candidate left in the race with the guts, determination and a viable plan for change in this country, Congressman Dennis Kucinich.

He's ready to have us out of Iraq in as little as three months and has a workable plan to bring our boys and girls home with dignity and honor!

Let's look deeper into this man's voting record and start to question the corporate funding behind C.E.O. (Clinton, Edwards, Obama)

Kucinich '08! Kucinich '08! Kucinich '08! Kucinich '08!

Lori in Colorado January 3, 2008 - 11:33pm

Are you kidding me? Senator Dodd, I'm sorry but I am not going to be as gracious as your other posters. I donated money to your campaign and just because a paltry 100,000 Democrats (or less!) voted for the 3 least qualified candidates on the slate you are dropping out? This is dog doodie! Primary after primary is decided by the same idiots because everyone drops out after the first vote is cast. Enough!! Is this your way of saying you never had what it takes to be president? You're nothing but a quitter? One freaking state votes and the 49 others are flushed down the toilet. Apparently only Iowa's opinion matters. Thanks for telling Colorado not to bother getting involved anymore. Once again , by the time we vote I'll be stuck with choosing between the lesser of 2 evils - like most of America. Gosh, no idea why most of us don't bother voting...you've just told us our vote doesn't count!

MarkR January 3, 2008 - 11:40pm

I'm sorely disappointed that Senator Dodd is dropping out of the race. I would have liked to have cast my vote for him in the Colorado Caucus. I would have proudly done so even if it were certain that he would not win the nomination.

Senator Dodd, you stood firm in your convictions to protect me as a U.S. citizen. I wish that you would have given me a chance to stand firm in my conviction that you are (were) the best candidate among those running in the democratic primary.

I really hate that candidates drop out early in the race. Who cares if it looks like someone else is bound to get the nomination. At least give the rest of us the chance to voice our support for you.

Anonymous January 3, 2008 - 11:52pm

Sorry to see your candidate resign. Please consider this statement below.

John Edwards speech tonight was incredible. The fact that he accepts zero money from big business for his campaign is incredible.
As a nurse years ago I heard Edwards plan for universal healthcare and agreed with him.He was the first candidate that stated a specific healthcare plan that was feasible.
Edwards has the charisma, the actions, the winning record as a litigator.
He has experience as senator, the experience as 2004 VP candidate and what's more he has the proven record of putting money in American pockets.
Economically, globally we are losing and that needs to stop.America needs John Edwards as President.

NBell January 3, 2008 - 11:56pm

Though I'm saddened that Senator Dodd has chosen to drop out, but I want to say thanks for being one of the few truly inspiring people of the last 7 years. The USA needs more people like him. I don't regret donating to his campaign, and I plan to support him as a Senator. Thank you.

Deb Bowen January 4, 2008 - 12:06am

I believe that Chris Dodd is the candidate this country needs and deserves---so when our Dodd group wasn't viable, none of my family nor I could even consider going with another candidate as a second choice. We could only watch . . . . and grieve. Yup, that's the word.

Chris, we are all better, more aware citziens because of your campaign and your education of us on issues like the FISA bill. I know you will keep up your strong work on the country's behalf in the Senate and continue your support for the restoration of our Constitution. You are a good man, an honorable man, and I thank you for restoring to me a belief that there are still individuals in politics who remain honorable and principled and who truly believe in public service, not public power. Over the last 7 years or more, I think I had lost all belief in the integrity of the people who run our country. I want to thank you, Chris, for your dedication to representing all of us as a U.S. Senator. You have impacted millions of lives by your service in ways you will never know, ripples that go on and on . . . Thank you!

Jerome January 4, 2008 - 12:07am

How very sad.

I was made even sadder when I heard Senator Obama's speech filled with empty platitudes that resonate so well when preaching to the choir. "They said this couldn't happen."

Really? When you spend 9 million on tv ads (and sen. clinton - 7 mill, sen edwards 3 million), when you have Oprah's and David Geffen's endorsments and capital, when you (with respect) have gotten a fire lit by playing outsider and calling for change? Is it that big a surprize?

Since Watergate, Carter, Reagan, Bush 1, Clinton and Bush 2 have packaged themselves as outsiders - saying "I'm untainted, I know nothing about Washington, I eat my peanuts or pork rinds, I clear my brush, I was born in a little town called Hope (and grew up in the Vegas [mob and gambling] capital of the South, Hot Springs, Arkansas), I went to Andover, Yale and Harvard Business School but I'm not part of the establishment"

All nonsense.

I wouldn't want an amateur who wasn't part of the "corrupt" medical establishment to even look at my appendix. Isn't the leadership of the last remaining superpower as important as an appendix? Isn't knowing how to get the Senate and House to move important? Isn't knowing INTIMATELY what makes DC run necessary?

I can't believe that the idea of a year of service granting GI bill-like benefits didn't catch fire. I can't believe that threatening a filibuster to keep a corrupt bill alleviating telecom companies of criminal responsiblity didn't matter. I can't believe that simply repeating mantras about "hope," and "change," and {limited}"experience," and class conflict vis-à-vis corporations could all trump years of public service and hard work.

At least the Dem's didn't have to debate the nature of the Most Holy and Undivided Trinity which apparently is where the Huckabee-Romney debate is headed.

Thank you, Senator Dodd. I had a brief talk with you, flying back from the Nevada debates to LAX last February. I am very disappointed in the Iowa results.

Katherine January 4, 2008 - 12:08am

The commitment that Chris Dodd and his family made to the Iowa campaign was splendid and exactly the kind of commitment we needed in the White House.

There is no doubt in my mind that Dodd would have been the best President our country's had in decades, and I think his campaign made that obvious.

Sadly, the results tonight do not reflect Iowans' best judgment of the candidates. They do reflect the media's refusal to give all the candidates equal attention. There were people caucusing tonight who did not know the first thing about Chris's experience and achievements. That's a terrible shame.

But the good news is that Chris Dodd will go on fighting the good fight in the Senate, and if we're lucky, we'll have a chance to support him again. I am tremendously grateful for his integrity and commitment -- and ability to get things done. I don't take that for granted, and I'm eager to support his next effort. The fight to restore the constitution and rescue this country isn't over.

Jose in Davenport January 4, 2008 - 12:14am

TODAY I AM VERY SAD FOR OUR COUNTRY !

MY FRIEND CHRIS DODD IS A GREAT MAN AND A GREAT PATRIOT.

I AM VERY SORRY HE WAS NOT VIABLE.

I WORKED HARD FOR HIM. NOW I WILL WORK FOR MRS. CLINTON.

CHAO!

Wordie January 4, 2008 - 12:23am

Senator Dodd:
I'm sad and disappointed to see that you dropped out of the race. You've demonstrated your integrity and intelligence throughout the campaign, and I think you can credit the media's unwillingness to offer adequate coverage to only the "frontrunners" (as defined by the media itself) as the reason for the numbers. But I watched your Charlie Rose interview and was very impressed, as I was with your performance in the debates (when you were offered an opportunity to speak), your courageous FISA stand and your sensible comments in the wake of the Bhutto assassination. We're lucky to have you in the Senate and I hope that there will be a place for you in a new Dem administration. Thank you for your many years of dedication and service to our country.

Dear Senator Dodd,

I am your delegate, and I was so disappointed to hear that you dropped out of the race. I am a college student at Grinnell, and I am proud to say that you got me excited to be involved in the caucus and the democratic process. It is truly a shame that you did not get the support you deserved; you would have made an excellent president. I hope I have the opportunity to represent you again in the future.

Andy January 4, 2008 - 1:27pm

Doh ! I finaly find a candidate who has guts enough to threaten a filibuster and leaves the campaign trail to do it.
A candidate who says what he means and means what he says.
A real straight shooter who I can support and he quits.
So my question is WHO DO YOU SUPPORT NOW ? Because whoever it is he gets my vote now instead of you.

Jerry January 5, 2008 - 12:40pm

Chris Dodd for Senate Majority Leader!!

http://www.democraticwarrior.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=238

Let's do it!

Eric in NY January 6, 2008 - 11:06am

I have to say I am very disappointed in Senator Dodd for dropping out of the race so early. I know that the argument for dropping out is that he and his people did the math and that based on Iowa's caucus, he couldn't build enough critical momentum to make a difference or have a shot. But this is something he should have known for a long time. The Democratic race has been described as a contest between the big three candidates for over a year. Also, with Iowa's insane caucus rules, Senator Dodd could have expected that he would not get the 15% necessary to make a dent at most poll sites. So what exactly did he run for? To Peter out after one contest? It makes me think he doesn't care about his message. He and Senator Biden should never have gotten involved. They should have made room for other, more worthy candidates who would at least stick to their guns and hold out for more than one caucus. Thanks to roll over candidates like this, we really do only have limited choices on who to vote for in the primary. I like a lot of what Senator Dodd does, but this week, he failed me.

Looks like Dodd doesn't want SML! Oh well!

Quote:
Dodd said he is not interested in the vice presidency and does not plan to seek a cabinet position, though he did not entirely rule out accepting one if it were offered. He also said he does not want to be Senate majority leader.

"Being Democratic leader is like trying to keep frogs in a wheelbarrow," he joked.
