Well, it's not much warmer here in N.H. - minus 1 as I write. Looking forward to seeing you all here on Friday.
It is a very pleasant 19 here in North Carolina. Looking forward to seeing everyone on May 6th.
Tough luck on that camera Matt.
Cameras can freeze??
Good luck tomorrow!
Apparently, yes, they can. The sad thing is that I actually knew that from friends of have done video work on Mount Everest -- it just never occurred to me that I should worry about the camera in my care in 0 degree weather...
I'll be good for today, though.
Thats Iowa for you.
Thank You Dodd for a great Iowa run. Tomorrow night will rock.
In my post above I joked about the fact that the North Carolina primary is so late. I have actually been looking at the process in which so much rides on the Iowa caucus and I found I believe in it. If the primary was held like the general election, all on one day kind of thing, I really don't think Chris Dodd would stand much of a chance. In a venue such as that money really does do all the talking and without great amounts of money a candidate stands little chance of being heard. But by isolating the race in Iowa Iowans take the process seriously and the candidates have a chance, if with nothing other than shear will power and the power of the convictions in which they believe, to meet the people of Iowa and to be heard. From that, on that fateful night when Iowans come together, when neighbor sits with neighbor and a decision about who is best suited to lead this country is made it could come down to a sole individual who makes the case for the leader they think is the best. For when it comes down to that night Iowans know that the fanfare was fun and the endless commercials were, well maybe not fun, but that has passed and there are only the citizens of Iowa, the citizens of America, in that room. One individual can look deep inside oneself and realize that in the end what is needed is a leader who will look after their children, making sure that there are good schools and a brighter tomorrow for the children, a leader who will look after their family, medical care when needed and rights of the worker so having a career does not mean finding out about your kids from a photo album, a leader who will look after their job so that prosperity and safety are the rewards for a hard days work, a leader who will look out for their community so if police are needed they come and if firemen are needed they arrive and these people have the equipment and training for the emergencies they face, a leader who will look after their country so groups of people don't plot to attack it and if they do they are stopped and if this person wants to take a trip outside the country they can hold their head high and say, "Yes, I am from America and I am proud of what she does for me and for the rest of the world."
Because of the caucus system and the role the Iowa plays a person gets a chance to meet Chris Dodd and in Chris Dodd the Iowan has found the leader who will do what any American might want to be done for them, to be their leader. To do what an American president is suppose to do, protect and serve 'We the People'. This is not an easy task nor is it an easy task to find such a person. It is not an easy task to be the American president because of the size and complexity of this great country. It is also not an easy task to find the person who can do this job because far too many claim to want to do the job and they may well have much money and popular friends which might make the most qualified go unnoticed but from what I have seen over these last few weeks Iowans have be looking over the candidates quite closely so I believe when it comes down to the heart of the matter, "Who really is going to be able to be the president I want, my family wants, my community wants, and my country wants?" Chris Dodd will be the answer they find.
