Chairman
Democratic National Committee

Dear Chairman Dean:

I write today to urge you to join the growing chorus of those in the blogosphere, those in academia and citizens from across the country who are urging major media outlets to release video of any and every debate during the 2008 primary election season into the public domain or make it available under a Creative Commons (Attribution) license.

We found out during Thursday's debate.

But sometimes sixty second answers aren't enough. Many of you had more questions about Senator Dodd's position on a certain issue and inquiries about the general progress of the campaign.

Thousands of you joined Deputy Campaign Manager Matt Butler, Policy Director Amos Hochstein and other campaign staffers LIVE on video, where they answered your questions and provided in-depth coverage of the debate. We'll have that video here shortly.

Do You Believe?

(This email went out to our supporters today)

Dear Friend,

Running for President has become a bit like American Idol. But beyond the glamour and glitz of celebrity politics, there are some time tested barometers measuring success: leadership, momentum, and fundraising.

We've led the way among primary candidates on issues like bringing our troops home from Iraq, stopping torture, and putting predatory lenders on notice.

We won a local straw poll in York County, South Carolina -- one of the early primary states. As their County Chair put it, "As people got to know him, they liked him." That's something we're seeing across the country; as people get a chance to learn about this campaign, they become supporters...and believers.

Wisdom Shapers and Opinion Makers

(This email went out to supporters today. --Tim)

Dear Friend,

As the campaigns gear up for the long summer months, the so-called "invisible primary" is already underway. That's what Beltway insiders call the buzz generated by opinion makers and those who help shape conventional wisdom.

Senator Dodd at the DNC Winter Meeting

Remarks, as delivered, February 2, 2007
Thank you very, very much.

Let me begin by thanking those wonderful folks from Connecticut and elsewhere. I want to thank Nancy DiNardo, our state chair, and others who have come here today to be a part of this great effort.

Howard, I want to thank you, as well, for your tremendous work.

Mark, thank you for that very generous introduction.

I come from a rather large family. I'm one of six children. And one of my older sisters was present at an event where I was introduced a few months ago.

And the master of ceremonies went on at some length, and concluded the introduction by saying, "It now gives me a great deal of pleasure to present to you not only a great Senator from Connecticut but one of the great leaders of the Western world."

Well, you can imagine how much I appreciated those kind remarks.

That evening, we're driving back to Providence, Rhode Island, where she lives. And during one of those quiet moments in the car, I turned to my sister, Martha, and I said, "Martha, how many great leaders of the Western world do you think there are?"

Only as an older sister could do, she said, "One less than you think. Keep driving the car. We need to get home."

So, as a former great leader of the Western world, I'm pleased to be here with great Democrats.

And let me, this morning; share some thoughts with you about where we are and where we hope to go in the coming months.
BREAKING--Senator Dodd to oppose the Warner-Levin legislation

Over the last several weeks Senator Dodd has spoken about Captain Brian Freeman, a courageous West Point Graduate who he met in Baghdad last December and who lost his life in Karbala on January 20.

Senator Dodd cannot in good conscience continue to go along with a failed policy that will lead to the loss of more Brian Freemans.
